Corrosion can only be eliminated through a complete systems approach. The typical industry approach to corrosion control is with a specialty coating. As an individual product, it will perform well in lab testing and shows great promise. In the real world, it’s a different story. When integrated into a typical production environment, that coating must now interact with a variety of other products which negatively impacts its effectiveness. Corrosion sets in and the typical finger pointing process between vendors begins. Since vendors are only responsible for their part of the process, you’re left paying for the problem. This non-integrated approach to corrosion control using “off-the-shelf” product technology promotes inconsistent performance and usually costs more. It certainly doesn’t solve the corrosion problem.
