The Holland Group announces Landing Gear enhanced with Black Armour™, an anti-corrosive
coating supplied by PRP Industries
HOLLAND, MI, August 17, 2005 - The Holland Group (Holland) has announced the introduction of landing
gear enhanced with Black Armour™. Black Armour™ is the next generation of protection in
the fight to combat excessive corrosion on North American highways from the leader in advanced
technology solutions for the transportation industry.
In the last five years, as the desire to keep roads safer in hazardous conditions has increased, road
departments have relied on magnesium and calcium chloride, rather than on sodium chloride as they
have in the past, to more effectively dissolve snow and ice. These new treatments are significantly
more damaging in nature, and they have created a new set of corrosion related concerns. The
transportation industry currently relies on traditional paints and protective coatings to defend
against corrosion, and these are proving to be ineffective long-term deterrents under these new
conditions.
In response to this growing concern, Holland's advanced technologies engineering team has developed
landing gear enhanced with Black Armour™. Holland’s Black Armour™ is more than a barrier,
it is an advanced metal treatment applied to at risk components and is designed to react with any
metal that oxidizes, causing the steel to "grow" a protective layer that is 10 times more impervious
to water than a swimming pool coating. Unlike landing gear treated with traditional paints or
coatings, Holland's landing gear with Black Armour™ have a built-in corrosion package that
compresses with heavy impact rather than shattering, and it never shrinks like traditional coatings.
In addition, when landing gear enhanced with Holland’s Black Armour™ are gouged or scraped,
rust is stopped from spreading beyond the point of contact because Black Armour™ is not a paint
or coating. Rather, Black Armour™ becomes part of the base metal, so it cannot bubble or flake.
Holland's Black Armour™ can take the place of a matte finish coat, or if any additional top
coat is required, it can be done with no additional treatment. It doesn't require any additional
chemicals in its process and is virtually odor-free. It is not flammable and contains no heavy
metals, making it environmentally friendly and suitable for disposal in a landfill.
